From 27 September 2026, Directive (EU) 2024/825 prohibits generic environmental claims such as "eco-friendly" where the trader cannot demonstrate recognised excellent environmental performance, and it prohibits claims of climate neutrality that rely on offsetting. EU Greenwashing Check reads your product names and descriptions and flags wording that may fall under these rules, with the rule it may concern. It also lists products that show a reduced price, so you can check that the prior price shown is the lowest of the 30 days before the reduction (Article 6a of Directive 98/6/EC). The app also looks at a few related points on your public pages: whether a withdrawal button appears in the page source (Article 11a of the Consumer Rights Directive, from 19 June 2026), whether the EU notice on the legal guarantee is displayed, whether a page still links to the EU ODR platform, which closed on 20 July 2025, and whether a legal notice and a privacy policy are linked. Each result is a prompt for your own review, not legal advice, and no automated check can catch every possible wording. The app stores no data and does not read orders or customer information. It is free to use.
